Aaron Leonard is a founding member of Combat Veteran Cohorts and specializes in recruiting, training, and mentoring veterans to become outdoor leaders. Aaron’s current work is in the U.S. Northeast and Texas, where he leads an outdoor education and adventure therapy program for veterans and their families. He is a regular on panels and presentations to government, private, and non-profit groups regarding the effects of adventure therapy protocols on veteran health and reintegration.
Aaron also volunteers as a mentor with the 100 Black Men of Virginia Peninsula and as an advisor to other veteran service organizations and veteran owed small businesses across the U.S.
An experienced combat veteran, Aaron enlisted in 1987, served as a Sergeant with the 1st Infantry Division in Operation Desert Storm, and has completed three post-9/11 combat rotations in Iraq as a Field Artillery Officer with the 130th Field Artillery Brigade and the 1st Cavalry Division. He is a retired Army officer and makes his home in Mahopac, NY with Leslie Hoellger.
